It’s soon to be my birthday and I’ve got a special song I’m singing.

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and as I approach my 73rd birthday, I’m holding fast to Psalm 90:12, “Teach me to number my days, oh Lord, that I may apply my heart to your wisdom.” The older I get, the more I need the wisdom of God; it’s ’cause life’s getting harder as I get older. And my friend Tommy Walker wrote a song about this very thing and, oh, for a birthday present, here he is with me to sing it for you.

(Joni sings:)

I’m counting the number of my days

That I may gain a heart of wisdom

And follow in God’s ways.

It won’t be long, I will be gone,

I’ll see him face to face,

So I’m counting the number of my days.

(Tommy sings:)

It won’t be long, I’ll be forgotten by this world,

But I will never be forgotten in the world that’s yet to come.

’Cause I will see the one who knew me before I was known

(Both sing:)

So I’m counting the number of my days.

Lord, help me see the world that’s yet awaiting me.

Help me release all these temporary things

So I can find your peace and give away your love.

And I’ll be counting,

Oh, Lord, I’ll keep counting,

Oh, my Lord, I’m counting the number of my days.

It won’t be long, I will be gone,

Lord, I’ll see you face to face,

So I’m counting the number of my days.

Friend, I pray you will number your days, too; each one of them is a gift from God. I’m celebrating that all this week as I approach my 73rd birthday. Want to join the party? Then visit joniradio.org and I’ll tell you all about how you can give me the best birthday present ever! Now, I’m not asking you to send anything in the mail, believe me! I’ve got everything I could ever want! But there are some people that we serve at Joni and Friends who have literally nothing, and you can make a difference in their lives. Don’t miss out; visit my party page at joniradio.org.

(Both sing:)

So I’m counting the number of my days.
