Hi, I’m Joni, and it’s never too late to give the perfect gift.
Christmas is over, but it’s not too late to give a child the gift of a wheelchair! But why do I call it the “perfect gift?” Well, there are a few reasons. Because in a developing nation like El Salvador, parents simply cannot afford a wheelchair for their disabled child. Like little Levi. To learn more about this incredible kid, go to joniradio.org today because you will be blown away by his smile and his perfect little wheelchair. And Levi and his parents have a good reason to smile. You see, in places like Central America, families like Levi’s are barely making it; hardly holding on by their fingers and toes. I mean, I’ve seen the tiny cinderblock house way up in the mountains; it’s just a few square feet with a dirt floor. But Levi and his family call it home. Their smiles are amazing, and when I consider all the hardships going against them, I tell you, they give new meaning to the word impoverished. But we got connected with this humble family through our Wheels for the World outreach, and you just have to see the perfect gift – the perfect little wheelchair. It’s got side supports, chest harness, wheel rims this little guy can reach. You’ve got to see the joy on his face and in his family when we placed this boy in his one and only, first-time, zippity-doo-dah little wheelchair. It’s sturdy; it’s rugged, and best of all – it’ll grow. The wheelbase can be expanded as Levi grows. Honestly, it is the perfect gift. So go to joniradio.org to see this kid’s happy smile and his amazing little wheelchair.
And friend, I want you to know, you make it possible. People like you who have a heart for Joni and Friends are providing the perfect gift to thousands of needy children like Levi. And, oh, are the needs great. A recent UN survey in India found virtually all women and girls with disabilities were beaten at home, 25% of them, raped. In another UN survey, mortality for children with special needs may be as high as 80% in developing nations. This grieves God’s heart; it breaks his heart. And what breaks God’s heart breaks our hearts at Joni and Friends.
But together we can bring healing to those hearts. When families like Levi’s taste the goodness of God through the gift of a Bible, the salvation message, and a chance to connect with a caring church; when special needs families in dark corners of the world receive practical help, well, it’s like a seed broken and driven into the dirt: out of it springs life and a thousandfold harvest. Because everybody in Levi’s village is now seeing his wheelchair and hearing the old, old story of Jesus and his love. Blessings come from brokenness, and it is the main way that God brings maximum glory to himself. And the bonus? The really big bonus? Is that God makes broken children like Levi share in his glory. God says in Isaiah 33 that “The lame shall take the prey.” Well, friend, when the lame and the broken take the prey, everyone’s jaw drops in amazement, making them wonder, “This is of God, and not man!”
So friend, again, it’s not too late to give the perfect gift – a child-sized wheelchair for a little disabled one like Levi. For all the details, go to my radio page today at joniradio.org, and please take a minute to watch an amazing video! I mean, every time I look at it, I tear up because Levi’s winning smile – despite his disability – it’s just unbeatable. So please help us give more smiles to needy families like his. Before the year ends, give the perfect gift at joniradio.org!
