Joni: This is Joni Eareckson Tada inviting you to go through the Bible with us in a year!
Ken: Hi, Joni.
Joni: Hi Ken. I'm so happy that you're back here at the microphone with me.
Ken: I'm excited as well.
Joni: Yes, it's always good having you in the recording studio. And here we are almost coming up on a New Year. Christmas right around the corner.
Ken: And you know what happens after Christmas.
Joni: That's right.
Ken: New Years.
Joni: It's gonna be fun. January 1st we will start reading through the Bible in a year.
Ken: Right and this will be our 6th year.
Joni: Unbelievable. And it is so neat to be reading through the Bible with you, Ken.
Ken: I think that's the key, Joni. I mean, I think that we have found as a couple that by reading together and having that discipline, it really has brought us closer together.
Joni: It has and it has brought us closer to the Lord Jesus as a couple. I mean individually yes, but as a couple together reading God's Word, the Holy Spirit just does something to your heart. Wouldn't you agree?
Ken: I agree and you know, it's not just reading Scripture, but it's the discussions we have afterwards or the discussions that we have during the day.
Joni: Right, and the discipline of doing it together. I think you have said, "When you go through God's Word, God's Word goes through you. And I feel that every time I watch you read. You don't like to let me read though.
Ken: Well...
Joni: No, c'mon. You don't.
Ken: I don't (laughing). I just enjoy it.
Joni: I know you do, sometimes...
Ken: But you're a good listener!
Joni: I'm a very good listener.
Ken: And then we have good discussions.
Joni: We have very good discussions. It's been so cute sometimes, we've done this late at night, friend, and Ken's eyes kind of droop and I'll say, "Ken, would you like me to pick it up and read from here?" "Nope. Nope. Nope. I'm awake." But Ken, I can't tell you how it warms my heart to sit there, not only listen to you read, but watch you read. There's something just awesome about watching your husband, watching your spouse read aloud the Word of God for the enrichment of us both. And this year again, like last, we'll be doing it chronologically.
Ken: Yes, and you know I think one of the things that we've found, well actually last year was the first time we did it chronologically because we were always scared that maybe we had to use a special Bible that was chronological.
Joni: Organized, right.
Ken: But instead, we are finding that we're doing it off of these sheets that are chronological, and it gives us reading for each night, which is very cool.
Joni: And the Word of God just becomes so much more precious to me, Ken.
Ken: And to me.
Joni: Absolutely. You know, Proverbs 30 says, "Every word of God is flawless." Every adverb, every adjective -- it's flawless. And the preciousness, the sweetness, the value, the way we prize God's Word just heightens when we go through it together. So friend listening, my husband and I, we would really love you to join us come January 1st in reading through the Bible in a year chronologically.
